Overview of the Incidence of Toddlers with Body Weight Below the Red Line (BGM) in the Working Area of Rajabasa Indah Community Health Center

Abstract

A toddler's body weight below the red line on the Kartu Menuju Sehat (KMS) growth chart can serve as an early indicator of nutritional problems, such as undernutrition or severe malnutrition, and therefore requires further attention. Toddlers with body weight below the red line (BGM) do not necessarily suffer from severe malnutrition; however, this condition may indicate an early nutritional problem. This study aimed to describe the occurrence of toddlers with body weight below the red line in the working area of Rajabasa Indah Community Health Center, Bandar Lampung. This was a descriptive study designed to describe the characteristics of the variables under investigation. A cross-sectional research design was employed. The study population consisted of all families with toddlers whose body weight was below the red line (BGM) in the working area of Rajabasa Indah Community Health Center during January–February 2023, totaling 21 toddlers. The sample consisted of all 21 toddlers in the population. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis to describe the characteristics of each research variable. The results showed that there were 21 toddlers with body weight below the red line in the working area of Rajabasa Indah Community Health Center, Bandar Lampung. Among mothers of toddlers with body weight below the red line, the largest proportion had basic education, comprising 15 respondents (71.40%). In terms of economic status, 13 respondents (61.90%) were categorized as having a low economic status. Regarding knowledge, 9 respondents (42.90%) were categorized as having a moderate level of knowledge. Keywords: toddlers, body weight below the red line (BGM), education, economic status, knowledge
